Include your macOS version, the Workivo version from Settings → About Workivo, and what happened. Please don’t send your database or screenshots with private work in them — they are almost never needed.

Getting started
Open Workivo. It lives in the menu bar and has no Dock icon. Allow Screen Recording when macOS asks — that is how macOS hands over window titles. Work as usual for an hour, then choose Open Workivo from the menu bar icon. It starts with an empty log and no projects; it learns them from you.
Window titles are empty
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording and switch Workivo on, then quit Workivo from the menu bar and open it again — a permission given while an app is running only reaches it on the next launch.
If the switch is on, you have reopened Workivo, and titles are still blank, macOS is holding an older record of the app. Select Workivo in that list, remove it with the − button, open Workivo again, and allow it when asked.
Website names are missing
Reading your browser’s front tab is off by default. Turn on Read the active browser tab in Settings → Capture and allow the prompt macOS shows for each browser. If you declined it before, switch it on in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation → Workivo.
How do I keep something private?
In Settings → Privacy: apps on Private apps never have their titles stored, and any title containing one of your Words that hide a title is stored as [private]. To stop recording for a while, choose Pause recording in the menu bar. Before sharing your screen, turn on Guest mode there too: names and titles are masked, every number stays.
How does project matching work?
A window whose title contains one of a project’s patterns counts toward that project. Add, extend or remove projects in the Projects screen. Teach watches what actually took your time, notices what belongs to no project yet, and suggests the pattern.
Where is my work log stored?
On your Mac, in the app’s own container, and nowhere else:
~/Library/Containers/com.awsnasser.worklog.native/Data/Library/Application Support/WorkLog
To delete it, quit Workivo, move it to the Bin, and delete that folder.
Can I export my hours?
Reports → Export Excel or Export CSV, for a day, week, month or year, saved wherever you choose.
Does it start when I log in?
Only if you said yes when it asked. Change it any time with Start when I log in in Settings → Startup, or in System Settings → General → Login Items.
Can I use the app in Arabic?
Yes. Every screen is available in Arabic and English, with right-to-left layouts for Arabic. Switch at the bottom of the sidebar.
What do I need to run it?
A Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 14 or newer. Workivo is free, with no purchases or subscription.
Where can I download Workivo?
Workivo is coming to the Mac App Store. The link will appear on its app page when it is available.
